A day in the internet

This is the best commercial I have seen in forever. I was thinking of buying my husband some for Christmas this year as a joke gift from the kids but then at last minute I thought “nah, it’ll just gather dust in the bathroom. It’s an old man’s brand”. But with a commercial this great I feel honor bound to get him some. Way to make an old brand relevant! Sigh, Wieden+Kennedy, why haven’t you called?
As much as I don’t want to like it, you have to admit it looks good.
Here’s a sneak peek of WIRED’s new tablet format (supposedly leaked). From the looks of the video it’s probably a fabricated proof of concept but whether or not it’s vaporware doesn’t really matter. A publication like WIRED putting their faith – financially and otherwise – in digital ink is what’s important. Especially interesting? The part where they say that we’re moving towards a world where “the advertising is as important as the editorial”.
It’s designed for the third world but Vodaphone 150 is exciting no matter where you live. It’s no iPhone – people won’t be using it to upload videos to Youtube or check in with Foursquare – but it does have the things that really matter to people trying to improve their lives in developing nations. 5 hours of talk time, messaging, and mobile payments, all for $15. Oh, and it’s a flashlight too. I am surprised and impressed that it’s Vodaphone putting this out and not Nokia – wonder if Jan Chipchase will weigh in on this on his blog?
Folksy, geeky delight.
Thanks, Molly
I went to look at Zara’s website yesterday and look at what’s on their homepage – just a fashion shot, a link for their Facebook page and newsletter sign-up and screenshots of their iPhone app.
Just came across this – amazing!
Thanks, Conrad Lisco
