Global Expansion

That’s 2/3 of the global population – roughly 4.6 billion people. In 2002 it was 1 billion. The penetration in developing parts of the world is as high at 57% – no wonder Google and MS keep going on and on about how they’re no longer focusing on the desktop.

Nielsen’s top tens of 2009

Nielsen just released a few of their top tens of ‘09 on their blog. It should be interesting to compare these to 2010 at the end of this year year – I personally think Android will be much more prominent among devices. Not necessarily the Nexus 1 but who knows? At this point, I want [...]

Girls, kids and old people like mobile

Nielsen released some very encouraging stats on mobile usage last week – apparently it’s up 34% from last year from 42.5 in July 2008 to 56.9 million in July 2009.

If you follow the mobile industry and you don’t read it, now’s the time to get acquainted [...]

No SkyFire for iPhone

I was pretty impressed with the video demo for the new SkyFire browser but it’s only available for Nokia and WinMo though supposedly they’ll soon support Blackberry. I’m looking for a way to test drive it though since I’m always suspicious of a full PC experience via mobile in terms of speed and usability. This [...]

CNN’s Worst mobile websites of 2009

OK, I am really late in posting this since actual work is keeping me so busy but I’d be remiss in not doing a post on it. I think that the “all mobile sites suck” paradigm is flawed – the problem is that most brands are trying to design a site that services both 2.5 [...]
