54.5 Million Mobile Web Users

So says the Kelsey Group. I’ll feel more comfortable with this statistic when it comes from Nielsen but it’s still a nice round number. That’s almost 25% of the online audience.

US mobile search and display ad revenues in the U.S. increasing to $3.1 billion by 2013 seems like a stretch though. A BIG stretch. I see more brands this year looking to experiment with mobile but they’re going slowly and cautiously. A CAGR of 81.2% seems a little over-ambitious given the current climate. The increase of mobile local search revenue from $20 million to $1.3 billion (CAGR 130.5%) seems somewhat realistic though when you look at the growth of local search – especially app based search (according to the same study, 15 percent of all iPhone applications are local in nature).
