Godiva Goes Mobile


One of my first jobs was at Godiva – I still can’t pass one of their shops in the mall without salivating. So I tend to think of them as a kind of retro brand which made the release of their iPhone app this past spring a surprise. Contrary to Pinch Media’s recent revelation about free iPhone apps having an average usage span of 30 days, this is one I’m still using – most often for get well and thank-you gifts. It’s a great model for retail/CPG brands looking to extend their brand to mobile. Obviously spur of the moment purchases like chocolates and flowers enjoy an advantage in luring mobile users but any consumer brand exploring mobile should look at. Easy browsing and checkout, integration with my address book – simple and elegant.
